The military presence in the region has increased which US President Donald Trump used to send a warning to Iran about this situation. The president announced that warships are moving toward the country while he wished for their upcoming deployment to become unnecessary.
US Naval Deployment in West Asia
- The US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln has already arrived in West Asia. Trump made his statement about additional warships which brought international attention to his remarks. He said, “Another warship is traveling toward Iran. We hope a deal is reached. They should have done it already but I know they are prepared. They have contacted me several times.”
- A US official confirmed that additional air defense systems are being sent to the region. The Iranian protests have continued which resulted in violent confrontations that caused numerous deaths.
