The United States has stated that India is likely to benefit more from the free trade agreement signed between India and the European Union. The agreement is commonly referred to as the India–EU trade deal.
US View on the Trade Agreement
US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer shared his views on the agreement during an interview. He said he had reviewed some details of the deal and believed that India would be in a stronger position. According to him, Indian products will gain wider access to European markets.
More Opportunities for Indian Professionals
Greer also noted that the agreement could create more opportunities for Indian professionals in European countries. He said the deal supports greater movement of skilled workers and services from India to the EU.
Global Trade Context
He further explained that US President Donald Trump is focusing more on domestic products. Many countries are looking for new markets because the United States has increased its tariffs on imported goods. The European Union has decided to enhance its trade connection with India through the current agreement.
