The United States has increased its diplomatic efforts to bring an end to the war in Ukraine. US President Donald Trump said progress is being made toward resolving the conflict. He shared these remarks while speaking to reporters at the White House.
Personal Hostility Seen as a Challenge
Trump explained that the difficult relationship between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin obstructs their attempts to reach peace agreements. He stated that both leaders strongly dislike each other, which creates obstacles in negotiations. Trump said that a solution will happen soon because he believes strong chances exist for the war to end.
Temporary Pause in Attacks Discussed
Trump said he asked Putin to stop attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities because of severe winter conditions. Trump said Russia agreed to his request.
