- The Union Budget presentation on Sunday marked Nirmala Sitharaman's ninth consecutive budget presentation which established her record as Union Finance Minister. No other finance minister has presented the budget for so many years in a row under the same Prime Minister.
- She needs to deliver one more presentation to achieve the same number of presentations as former Prime Minister Morarji Desai. He delivered the Union Budget on ten occasions during his different time periods in office. His first six presentations occurred between the years 1959 and 1964. His second group of four presentations took place between 1967 and 1969.
- P. Chidambaram presented the budget nine times while Pranab Mukherjee presented it eight times among former finance ministers. The two ministers presented their budget proposals under different governments. Nirmala Sitharaman established herself as the sole minister who presented the Union Budget nine times without interruption during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration.
Meeting With the President
- Nirmala Sitharaman and her team visited Rashtrapati Bhavan before she presented the budget in Parliament. She officially delivered the budget documents to President Droupadi Murmu during their meeting.
- The President congratulated the finance minister and offered her sweetened yogurt, known as dahi chini. The gesture functions as a traditional method to wish someone good luck. The finance minister delivered the Union Budget to the Lok Sabha at 11 AM after receiving Cabinet approval.
Choice of Saree Draws Attention
The public shows interest in Nirmala Sitharaman's budget presentation outfits. She prefers to wear handloom sarees as her primary clothing. She presented the budget wearing a Kanchipuram saree which represents her cultural heritage.
