- Infantino congratulated Shah and the cricket community through his statement because cricket will be included in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games. He also expressed interest in future cooperation between sporting bodies to promote unity through sport.
Cricket will make its Olympic Games comeback
- Cricket last appeared in the Olympic Games when it played its final match during the 1900 Paris Games. At that time, only one match was held, in which Great Britain defeated France to win the gold medal.
- After a break of 128 years cricket will make its Olympic Games return in 2028. However, the qualification process for teams has not yet been finalized. The ICC will address this matter during its annual meeting which will take place in Singapore during July.
