French President Emmanuel Macron To Visit India On February 17

French President Emmanuel Macron will visit India on February 17 for a three-day official trip. He will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to conduct discussions throughout the visit. The negotiations will aim to enhance bilateral ties through key areas which include trade and defense.

Meetings in Mumbai and Delhi

  • President Macron will arrive in Mumbai on February 17. He and Prime Minister Modi will together launch the 'India-France Year of Innovation' in Mumbai. The two leaders are expected to conduct official talks in the city.
  • The leaders will assess the progress made toward the Horizon-2047 roadmap according to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. The roadmap which was established in 2023 during the previous Modi-Macron talks establishes the long-term partnership plan between both nations.

Focus on Technology and Defense Cooperation

  • President Macron will participate in the 'AI Impact Summit' which takes place in New Delhi on February 19. The summit will focus on developments and cooperation in artificial intelligence.
  • The two countries will sign a significant defense agreement during the official visit. The deal involves the supply of 114 Rafale fighter jets to India. The contract value reaches Rs 3.25 lakh crore. The defense deal will mark the biggest defense agreement which India has signed to date.
