The Cabinet has authorized IPL matches to take place
- The Karnataka government has given its approval for Royal Challengers Bengaluru. This decision brings relief to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) fans across the state.
- D.K. Shivakumar, the Deputy Chief Minister, announced that the cabinet had approved the request. The government will implement the recommendations of the Justice John Michael D. Cunha report. Officials will strictly follow all regulations which govern ticketing procedures and crowd control methods and stadium access protocols.
Public Safety and Compliance Establishment
- D.K. Shivakumar stated that the decision prioritizes public safety. The government aims to balance fan interest with security measures. All match management processes will include mechanisms for ensuring accountability.

The stadium will allow 35000 fans to enter at a time
- Karnataka Minister Ramalinga Reddy confirmed that the State Cabinet has granted permission to the Karnataka Cricket Association (KSCA) to conduct IPL matches at the stadium.
- The government has established a spectator limit of 35000 people who can attend matches. This limit aims to reduce overcrowding and improve safety conditions inside the stadium.
Decision Required High-Level Meeting to Occur
- The decision followed a high-level meeting at Vidhana Soudha. Home Minister G. Parameshwara conducted the meeting.
- Senior officials attended the meeting. The meeting included Additional Chief Secretary Tushar Girinath and State DGP Salim and Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh. The meeting included Karnataka Cricket Association President Venkatesh Prasad and RCB representatives.
- Venkatesh Prasad welcomed the cabinet’s decision. He thanked the government for granting permission.
Background of the Earlier Incident
- RCB won the IPL 2025 title and celebrated at Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4. During the celebration, a stampede occurred at the venue.
- The incident resulted in 11 deaths and more than 50 injuries. Following this event, the state government formed a judicial commission. Retired judge Justice John Michael D. Cunha is heading the inquiry into the incident.
