Prime Minister Modi Inaugurates Seva Tirth

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the new Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Seva Tirth will serve the country throughout its entire operational period. He launched the Seva Tirth facility in Delhi on Friday.

The complex includes:

  • The new PMO (Seva Tirth)
  • Kartavya Bhavan-1
  • Kartavya Bhavan-2
  • The National Security Council Secretariat

A Milestone for a Developed India

Prime Minister Modi declared that the opening of Seva Tirth and Kartavya Bhavan buildings represents an important milestone in India's progress toward development. He stated that the buildings demonstrate the dedication of the government to develop services which will benefit the public.

He said:

  • “Seva Tirth and Kartavya Bhavan are built to fulfill the aspirations of the people. The decisions which leaders make in this location will establish the path which 140 crore Indians will follow in their future.

He mentioned that the historic South Block and North Block which have served as power centers since 1921 will become museums.

Symbols of Freedom and Governance

Prime Minister Modi described the new buildings as symbols of India’s freedom and self-governance. He noted that the ancient structures demonstrate how British colonialism affected Indian history.During the event a special Rs. 100 coin was released to mark the occasion.

Transition to Seva Tirth

The Prime Minister held his last cabinet meeting at South Block the British-era Secretariat building before moving the PMO to Seva Tirth.

Key Decisions Signed at Seva Tirth

Prime Minister Modi signed official documents for major projects after the opening ceremony which included:

  • The PM-Rahat Scheme offers immediate medical services to patients who sustain injuries during road crashes. The program enables eligible patients to receive hospital treatment worth Rs. 1.5 lakh without any cost.
  • Expansion of the Lakhpati Didi program – The Centre aims to double the number of beneficiaries to 6 crore by March 2029.
