The co-founder of Infosys Nandan Nilekani explained that Artificial Intelligence is changing the process of software development. He mentioned that AI transforms the methods which businesses use to develop and operate their software. He expressed his opinions about this subject during the event which belongs to Infosys called Investor Day.
The Main Work of Software Development Has Shifted Away From Coding
- Nilekani explained that writing code may not remain the primary skill for technology professionals. He said that the main goal now is to work effectively with AI tools. Organizations need to implement AI systems to accomplish their business objectives.
- He stated that companies need to develop new business procedures which will enable their success. The company needs to update its customer engagement systems and human resources procedures and operational activities. Every company must understand how AI fits into its structure and strategy.
Faster Adoption Than Previous Technologies
- Nilekani explained that AI systems experience faster adoption rates compared to previous technological developments. He compared AI growth with the internet and smartphones.
- The internet reached its first billion users after a ten-year period. Smartphones achieved the same user base within five years after their introduction. He predicted that AI will become available to the general public within a two-year time frame.
Emergence Of New Job Positions
- Nilekani explained that as coding loses its importance new career paths will develop. He mentioned the need for AI engineers, forward deployment engineers, and forensic analysts.
- He stressed that AI will generate fresh job possibilities while transforming current employment positions. Professionals and organizations need to acquire knowledge about AI tool usage to navigate this upcoming change.
