Sundar Pichai Highlights India’s AI Potential
- Google CEO Sundar Pichai declared that India can establish a top-tier artificial intelligence organization. He described how the nation's systems are developing to enable the establishment of powerful innovative enterprises.
- Pichai spoke at the India AI Impact Summit about the continuous development of India's startup ecosystem. He used Flipkart and Oyo as proof of successful domestic business innovation. He identified Bengaluru as an important location for business creation. He said that Sarvam and other companies create indigenous AI solutions while their advanced research infrastructure exists.
- Pichai expressed his assurance that India will successfully develop international artificial intelligence enterprises without encountering any significant challenges.
Meeting with the Prime Minister
- Sundar Pichai met Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the summit. They explored Google options to enhance its connections with Indian students and professionals. The discussion focused on digital skills and workforce development.
- Microsoft Plans Major AI Investment in the Global South
- $50 Billion Commitment by 2030
- Microsoft announced that it will invest $50 billion by the end of this decade to expand AI adoption in developing and underdeveloped countries which people commonly call the Global South.
- According to Brad Smith who serves as Vice Chair and President of Microsoft AI usage in developed nations has reached double the level of usage found in developing nations. He explained that this gap keeps growing larger. Natasha Crampton who holds the position of Chief Responsible AI Officer at Microsoft stressed the necessity to eliminate this existing disparity.
The company plans to invest in five main areas:
- AI infrastructure
- Skill development
- Multilingual AI development
- Support for local innovation
- Wider AI access and deployment
Microsoft reported its investment exceeding $8 billion across multiple regions which include India and Mexico and Africa and South America and the Middle East and Southeast Asia during the previous fiscal year.
Microsoft Elevate Initiative in India
- The Microsoft Elevate program aims to train 20 million Indian citizens in AI skills by the year 2030. The initiative focuses on improving digital literacy and workforce readiness.
- The development of voice systems has transitioned from Agentic AI technology. A report by Prosus and BCG stated that AI systems are evolving rapidly. The development process will proceed toward creating advanced systems that operate through voice recognition.
- The report explained that input-output models, such as audio input and speech-to-text systems, will improve further. The systems are expected to achieve emotional comprehension capabilities which will enable more natural interactions.

The report stated that AI usage now extends to multiple sectors beyond financial services and manufacturing industries. The agriculture industry and the education sector and the public health sector will experience rapid growth.
Qualcomm Invests in India’s AI Startup Ecosystem
The company Qualcomm announced its plans to invest $150 million in order to support Indian technology companies and AI startups. The funding will be provided through Qualcomm Ventures.
The investment will target startups across various stages, especially in:
- Automotive technology
- Internet of Things (IoT)
- Robotics
- Mobile technology
The initiative aims to enhance India's status as an emerging AI research center.
India has become an important center for NVIDIA operations. Vishal Dhupar who serves as NVIDIA South Asia Managing Director established India as the country from which AI research activities originate. He credited the country’s developers, startup founders, and technology partners for this growth.
Multiple Indian organizations such as NPCI and Sarvam.AI and Zoho and BharatGen utilize NVIDIA's Nemotron platform to create their AI solutions.
Impact of 20-Year Tax Break
- NVIDIA Senior Vice President Shankar Trivedi highlighted the recent budget announcement of a 20-year tax break for foreign data companies. The measure will promote AI development throughout India according to him.
- He also noted that many global companies operate Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India. Local AI infrastructure development from each GCC will create additional business expansion possibilities according to him.
Absence of NVIDIA CEO
Trivedi explained that NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang could not attend the summit due to health issues related to extensive travel. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav confirmed that his absence was communicated in advance.
Drone and Robotics-Based Delivery Systems
- SkyAir Mobility presented an autonomous delivery system at the summit. The platform uses drones and ground robotics to deliver goods directly to consumers without human intervention.
- Larsen & Toubro (L&T) proposed a joint venture with NVIDIA to build large-scale AI factory infrastructure. The plan includes expanding NVIDIA GPU clusters at data centers in Chennai and Mumbai.
Accel Predicts $2 Trillion Tech Opportunity
- Accel, a US-based venture capital firm, stated that India could add $2 trillion in technology-driven value over the next decade.
- Partner Prayank Swarup said that technology companies currently account for only 4–5 percent of the total market value of Indian corporates. He projected that this share could rise to 15–20 percent in the next ten years, driven largely by AI and startups.
- He added that AI could make services such as medical advice, education, and financial consulting accessible at low monthly costs. He also predicted the creation of multiple $100 billion companies in the coming years.
- According to Accel, India offers strong opportunities not only for domestic growth but also for global expansion through AI-driven innovation.
