Google Announces New Subsea Cable Between India And The US
  • The Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the creation of new underwater cable systems which will connect India to the United States during his presentation at the AI Impact Summit in Delhi. The new cable will enhance artificial intelligence connectivity between both nations.

Visakhapatnam Receives $15 Billion Investment for Artificial Intelligence Hub Development

  • Pichai confirmed that Google will invest 15 billion dollars to build a 1,000 MW AI hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The project will focus on developing complete AI systems together with their required computational resources.
  • He indicated that the oceanic cable and the artificial intelligence center will produce employment opportunities for people. He stated that the program will assist Indian businesses in implementing advanced artificial intelligence solutions. Large-Scale Skill Training Initiatives

  • Pichai announced that Google plans to create AI training programs which will reach a broad audience across India. The company is offering the Google AI Professional Certificate for students and professionals. The program operates through a partnership with Karmayogi Bharat which provides material in 18 different languages.
  • The government plans to provide AI training to 2 crore employees who work in 800 districts across the country. Atal Tinkering Labs will use generative AI tools to train 1.10 crore students who attend more than 10,000 schools.

AI for Science and Research Support

  • Google has launched the AI for Science Impact Challenge with a 30 million dollar grant. The program aims to accelerate scientific research using AI technologies.

  • The Gemini application is expanding its international reach while providing support for 10 Indian languages. Pichai announced that Google DeepMind and the Government of India have established a new partnership to enhance their AI research work together.

Meeting with the Prime Minister

Pichai disclosed that he had a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his trip. The two parties evaluated AI applications which included healthcare and multilingual information access plus startup development and agricultural practices. He explained that the collaboration between government and technology companies will drive responsible AI development throughout India.
