Program Launch in Ajmer
Prime Minister Narendra Modi conducted the national HPV vaccination program launch in Ajmer Rajasthan on Saturday. The central government created this program to enhance women's health throughout the nation.
Objective of the Vaccination Drive
The program seeks to prevent both cervical cancer and other cancers that the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) virus causes. The government intends to decrease the incidence of these diseases through vaccination which should start early.
Vaccine Distribution Details
The program provides free HPV vaccines to 14-year-old girls at all government health centers. The campaign uses Gardasil as its vaccine.
Protection Offered by the Vaccine
Gardasil provides protection against HPV types 16 and 18. These types cause most cervical cancer cases. The vaccine protects against HPV types 6 and 11 which cause other HPV-related health conditions.
