India Strengthens Position in Global Wealth Rankings
- India maintains its third place position in the global rankings which measure countries according to their total number of billionaires. The country experiences fast wealth development which continues to proceed without interruption. Indian entrepreneurs now compete globally across multiple business sectors.
- The Hurun Global Rich List 2026 shows that artificial intelligence (AI) development has led to an increase in new billionaires. The world now has a record number of 4,020 people who possess wealth above $1 billion which equals about ₹9,100 crore. Among them, 308 are Indians.
- The number of Indian billionaires increased by 24 new members who joined the list in comparison to the previous year. Indian billionaires saw their total wealth rise by 10% which brought their assets to ₹112.6 lakh crore.
Mukesh Ambani Remains Richest in India and Asia
- Mukesh Ambani who serves as the chairman of Reliance Industries maintains his position as the richest person in both India and Asia. His wealth increased by 9%, reaching ₹9.8 lakh crore.
- Gautam Adani who serves as the chairman of Adani Group holds the second position in India. His wealth decrease of 14% brought his total assets to ₹7.5 lakh crore.
- Cyrus S. Poonawalla who started the Serum Institute of India experienced one of the biggest wealth increases. His wealth increased by 44% which brought his total to ₹3 lakh crore.
- Mumbai holds the record for most billionaires among Indian cities which includes 95 people who are on the list.

- The Hurun list registered 578 new billionaires who joined the list from all around the world during the past year.
- China leads all countries with a total of 1,110 billionaires who currently reside within its borders. The United States follows with 1,000 billionaires.
Elon Musk Becomes the World’s Richest Person Again
- Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX CEO, has regained his status as the world’s wealthiest individual. His wealth increased by 89% to reach $792 billion which exceeds ₹72 lakh crore. This achievement marks his sixth consecutive year of maintaining the top position.
- Jeff Bezos, who founded Amazon, holds second place with his $300 billion fortune. The third position belongs to Larry Page, who co-founded Alphabet and possesses $271 billion.
- Jensen Huang, the Nvidia CEO, achieved his first entry into the world's 10 richest individuals. His net worth reached $172 billion because of artificial intelligence technology advancements.
- The report discovered that the AI industry created 114 new billionaires through its exclusive activities.
