Large Refinery Project Announced
- Reliance Industries which belongs to Mukesh Ambani will make a significant financial commitment to the United States. The company will partner in the construction of a new oil refinery. The country will see its first refinery project of this size after 50 years since the last one.

Refinery Location in Texas
- The refinery will be built in the Brownsville area of Texas. America First Refining (AFR) manages the project.
- The refinery will use American shale gas according to AFR. Reliance has signed a 20-year agreement to purchase fuels produced at the refinery. The project will begin its foundation work between April and July of this year.
Estimated $300 Billion Deal
- Trump shared details about the project on Truth Social. The total value of the agreement amounts to approximately $300 billion which equals about ₹27 lakh crore. Reliance is listed as one of the partners in the project.
- AFR claimed that an international company with high market value invested in the project while the company remained unnamed. Reliance has not yet issued a public response to these developments.
- The refinery will mark the first major oil refining project to start construction in the United States since Marathon Refinery in Louisiana began operation in 1977. The officials have not disclosed all financial information regarding the project nor have they provided a timeline for its completion.
Reliance’s First Refinery in the United States
- This project will become Reliance’s first refinery in the United States. The company already operates the world’s largest refining complex in Jamnagar, India. The facility can process approximately 1.24 million barrels of oil every day.
- AFR also plans to produce about 50 billion gallons of refined fuel products. The value of these products is estimated at $175 billion (about ₹15.92 lakh crore).
- Overall, AFR estimates that the project could improve the U.S. trade balance by around $300 billion.
Expected Economic Impact
- Trump described the project as a major benefit for American workers and the energy sector. He stated that the refinery will supply fuel to domestic markets, strengthen national energy security, and increase U.S. energy production.
- He also said the project will bring significant economic growth, especially to communities in South Texas.
