LPG Tanker ‘Shivalik’ Reaches India Amid Supply Concerns

Arrival of LPG Shipment at Mundra Port

The LPG tanker Shivalik reached Mundra Port on Monday. The vessel delivered 45,000 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). This arrival comes at a time when fuel supply concerns have increased due to tensions in West Asia.

Additional Crude Oil Shipment Expected

Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Special Secretary in the Ministry of Shipping, shared an update. He said that the tanker Jag Ladki is on its way to India. The vessel is carrying 80,000 metric tonnes of crude oil. It is expected to arrive on Tuesday.

Status of Indian Vessels in the Region

Sinha also provided details about Indian vessels near the Persian Gulf.

  • 22 Indian ships are currently located west of the Gulf
  • 616 seafarers are on board these vessels
  • All crew members are reported safe

Movement Through the Strait of Hormuz

Many ships remain stranded near the Strait of Hormuz due to regional tensions. However, Iran has allowed Indian vessels to pass through this route.

Two Indian LPG tankers recently crossed the strait safely:

  • Shivalik (now arrived in India)
  • Nanda Devi (expected arrival soon)

Expected Arrival of ‘Nanda Devi’

The LPG tanker Nanda Devi is scheduled to reach Kandla Port on Tuesday morning. It is also carrying 45,000 metric tonnes of LPG.
