New PAN Rules from April 1
- The Income Tax Department of India will introduce new Permanent Account Number (PAN) application requirements which will start on the first day of the upcoming financial year.
- From April 1 applicants must provide more than their Aadhaar Card to obtain a PAN. Those who plan to use Aadhaar alone must complete the process on or before March 31.
- The Common Service Centre (CSC) has issued a notice. It advises applicants to submit their requests before the deadline to avoid issues.
Additional Documents Required for PAN
A PAN is essential for financial and banking activities in India. Applicants must present additional documents together with their Aadhaar identification under the new regulations.
From April 1 applicants must provide proof of date of birth as a required document. Applicants must submit any one of the following:
- Birth Certificate
- Voter ID card
- Matriculation Certificate
- Driving License
- Affidavit
- Passport
These documents assist in constructing a more precise identity verification process.
Changes in Application Process
The CSC confirmed that the new rules will result in changes to the PAN application process which will start on the new rules implementation date. The new format needs to be used by applicants when they submit their applications.
