UK Visa Fee Increase From April 8: Key Changes Explained

New Visa Fee Policy Announced

The Home Office has introduced increased visa fees for various visa categories. The United Kingdom visa update affects three groups of people who want to enter the country which includes tourists and students and skilled workers.

The new fee schedule will begin on April 8. The increased charges apply to:

  • Visa applications
  • Settlement applications
  • Sponsor licenses

The official statement mentioned that most charges will increase between 6 percent and 7 percent. 

Changes to Skilled Worker Visa Fees

The Skilled Worker visa fee will rise according to the length of stay. 

For visas valid up to three years:

  • The previous fee was £769
  • The current fee is £819

For visas valid beyond three years:

  • The previous fee was £1,519
  • The current fee is £1,618

The new regulations will raise costs for professionals who intend to work in the UK for an extended period. 

Student Visa Fee Update

The Student visa fee will experience an increase. 

  • Old fee: £524
  • New fee: £558

International students who want to study at UK universities will be affected by this update. 

Visitor Visa Fee Increase

Short-term visitors will also face higher costs. 

  • The six-month Visitor visa cost
    • The previous fee was £127
    • The current fee is £135

This applies to tourists and individuals visiting for short stays.

Additional Fee Revisions

The UK government confirmed that it will implement new fee changes for different visa categories. 

  • The government has updated the costs for sponsor licenses. 
  • The fees for Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system have been revised.
