PM Modi Speaks On Women’s Reservation Bill In Varanasi
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that his government has made strong efforts to introduce the Women's Reservation Bill in Parliament. 
  • He stated that the bill has been delayed because political parties which include the Congress and Samajwadi Party have been opposing it. He said these parties have blocked the bill for many years and do not support greater participation of women in legislative bodies.
  • The Prime Minister said that opposition parties use their excuses to conceal their actual shortcomings. He said his government will continue to implement women' reservation even when they face obstacles.

Commitment to Women's Representation

  • Modi described the plan to introduce reservations for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies as a major national effort. He referred to it as a "great Yagna," which means a significant public mission.
  • He said he visited Varanasi to seek the support and blessings of women for this initiative.

Focus on Inclusive Political Participation

  • The Prime Minister stated that the proposal is not driven by political gain. The organization aims to create pathways which allow women from common families to become members of Parliament and State Assemblies.
  • He said that some opposition parties choose to maintain political control within specific families.

Modi said that the effort to pass the Women's Reservation Bill is ongoing. The government will continue until they achieve successful implementation of the legislation according to his statement.
