- The state of West Bengal established its first governmental system to be run by the BJP political party. The state government ceremony took place on Saturday when BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari became the state's Chief Minister. The event occurred at Brigade Parade Ground which is located in Kolkata. R.N. Ravi the Governor administered the oath of office.
- The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi served as the main guest for the event. The event received attendance from important BJP figures and National Democratic Alliance partners. The group consisted of Amit Shah J.P. Nadda Rajnath Singh Ram Mohan Naidu Chandrababu Naidu Yogi Adityanath and Rekha Gupta. Nitin Nabin the President of the BJP National Party participated in the event.
Suvendu Adhikari Becomes the First BJP CM in West Bengal
- Suvendu Adhikari at 55 years old became West Bengal's ninth Chief Minister. He also became the first BJP CM in West Bengal since the state was formed. His swearing-in marks a major political shift in Bengal politics.
- Suvendu Adhikari and various BJP politicians took their oaths for ministerial positions. The list included Dilip Ghosh Agnimitra Paul Ashok Kirtania Nisith Pramanik and Khudiram Tudu.
Early Political Journey of Suvendu Adhikari
- Suvendu Adhikari was born on December 15 1970 in East Medinipur district. He joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in 1998 after the party was founded by Mamata Banerjee.
- He developed into a close political ally of Mamata Banerjee throughout their time together. He lost the Tamluk Lok Sabha election which he ran in 2004. He won the Kanthi Dakshin Assembly seat in 2006 which marked his first entry into the state legislature.
- He won two Lok Sabha elections which enabled him to become an Member of Parliament.
Exit from TMC and Entry into BJP
- Suvendu Adhikari later served as a minister in the Mamata Banerjee government.However he developed political differences with the TMC leadership because he wanted to build his own political path. The reports connected the dispute to internal party conflicts which involved Mamata Banerjee's nephew.
- Suvendu Adhikari joined the BJP after he left the TMC in 2020. His membership in the party made him one of the foremost BJP leaders who operated in West Bengal. His efforts established the party's presence throughout the entire state.
BJP Election Victory through his Contributions
- Suvendu Adhikari worked as a crucial member of the BJP Assembly election campaign team which operated in West Bengal. The party achieved better regional support because of his leadership skills.
- The national media recognized him after he won against Mamata Banerjee in the Nandigram Assembly constituency during the 2021 elections. He defeated her again in the recent elections which took place in Bhabanipur.
