Vijay Government Secures Majority In Tamil Nadu Assembly Floor Test

The government of Vijay has successfully completed the floor test at the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. The government achieved a decisive victory during the Wednesday confidence vote when its alliance partners and some rebel legislators backed its agenda.

The TVK party achieved an important milestone because of this development which followed their successful performance in the recent Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Vijay Wins Confidence Vote in the Assembly

Chief Minister Vijay presented the confidence motion to the Assembly when it began its proceedings today. The Speaker organized voting after members finished their discussion.

The Speaker employed an unusual voting method which required him to name each MLA for them to declare their vote. This method drew attention inside the House because it made every member’s position public.

The voting results showed that 144 MLAs supported the Vijay government while 22 members opposed the motion. The result confirmed that the government had enough support to continue in office.

Support From Alliance Parties and Rebel MLAs

The TVK party received backing from multiple parties during the floor test. The government received support from Congress and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and Indian Union Muslim League during the voting session.

The Vijay government received backing from AIADMK rebel MLAs who joined the opposition. Their decision played a visible role during the proceedings and highlighted divisions within the opposition party.

The government position received stronger support from various groups which united to back the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

Opposition Protest and DMK Walkout

The DMK violently opposed the Vijay administration throughout the entire discussion. Udhayanidhi Stalin, a DMK MLA, attacked the government while questioning its right to rule.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister needed to establish a proper government while accusing the current administration of needing external assistance to maintain its authority. He alleged that MLAs had been persuaded to back the government.

DMK members exited the Assembly after the debate ended which resulted in their absence during the voting process.

The session experienced a significant political event when the members walked out.

AIADMK Internal Differences Become Visible

The AIADMK members maintained a tense atmosphere during the debate.

Former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami who leads the AIADMK party accused Vijay of trying to sway his party members before the upcoming floor test. He declared that AIADAC maintained its unity while all party members would vote against the government.

The rebel leaders from his faction denied his assertion. Velumani who leads the rebel faction declared that their group would back Vijay and the TVK party during the vote.

The different positions showed that internal conflicts existed between AIADAC factions during a vital period for Tamil Nadu political affairs.

Vijay Outlines Government Priorities

Vijay delivered his Assembly address after winning the confidence vote to express gratitude toward his government supporters.

The government intends to maintain its full five-year term while adhering to secular principles. He committed to maintaining all welfare programs that previous governments had established.

Vijay dedicated his time to explaining government priorities which included protecting women and delivering social justice. He stated that these areas would stay as the government's most important priorities.

The Chief Minister answered the criticism which targeted Ricky Radhan Pandit Vetrivel's selection as Officer on Special Duty (Political). Several political parties had objected to the appointment. Vijay said the matter would be reviewed.
