India Records World's 50 Hottest Cities Amid Severe Heatwave
A strong heatwave is affecting large part of India, and well. High temperatures are making day to day life difficult in many regions. As per data released by AQI.in, on Friday morning the world’s 50 hottest cities were all sitting in India, pretty much.
Balangir in Odisha recorded the top temperature at 45 degrees Celsius. In some other cities temperatures went past 40 degrees Celsius before noon , so, things get worse quickly. This extreme heat is raising serious worries about public health and safety, and you can feel it.
Temperatures rise Across multiple states
Chandrapur in Maharashtra and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh both clocked 44 degrees Celsius during morning hours. Other places under severe heat include Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Telangana, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh is among the worst hit states. Cities like Varanasi, Banda, Bareilly, and Ayodhya saw unusually high temperatures. Nearly half of the cities mentioned among the world’s hottest locations came from Uttar Pradesh alone.
IMD issues Heatwave alerts
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had already warned about intense heatwave conditions across Northwest and Central India. After that, local authorities issued Red and Orange alerts in several states too.
These alerts suggest a high danger from extreme temperatures. Officials say people should stay careful , especially during afternoon hours when heat peaks the most.
Health risks increase during extreme heat
Hospitals are seeing more cases of dehydration and heatstroke. Doctors note that outdoor workers, children, and older adults face the biggest risk.
Medical experts recommend staying out of direct sunlight during peak daytime hours. They also suggest cutting unnecessary travel, plus drinking enough water through the entire day.
