Petrol And Diesel Prices Increase Again Across India
Fuel prices have climbed up again, across the country. The state-run oil companies bumped petrol rates by 87 paise per liter, and diesel by 91 paise per liter too. The updated numbers started from 6:00 AM on Saturday.
Honestly, this is the third time fuel prices are hiked in just this month. Right now, petrol and diesel rates are being tweaked almost every four days, so it feels like a steady thing not a one off.
Rising Crude Oil Prices add further pressure
Global crude oil prices keep pushing up, mainly because geopolitical tensions in the Middle East are still going on. This kind of situation adds pressure on Indian oil companies as well. Then, as a workaround, they pass a portion of the extra burden to consumers via these repeated fuel price hikes.
Latest petrol prices in some major cities
After the latest revision, petrol prices in big cities look like this:
- Delhi: ₹99.51 per liter
- Kolkata: ₹110.64 per liter
- Mumbai: ₹108.49 per liter
- Chennai: ₹105.31 per liter.
Among these, Kolkata, apparently saw one of the top petrol prices after the increase, compared to the other places.
Latest diesel prices in major cities
Diesel rates have also moved upward in most metro areas:
- Delhi: ₹92.49 per liter
- Kolkata: ₹97.02 per liter
- Mumbai: ₹95.02 per liter
- Chennai: ₹96.98 per liter.
With diesel going up, transportation and logistics costs could take a hit in the coming days, so that part may become more noticeable.
Fuel Prices in Hyderabad go past the key mark
So in Hyderabad, petrol prices are now at ₹112.84 per liter, after the latest round of increase. For diesel, the prices in the city have moved beyond ₹100 per liter and are currently ₹100.94 per liter.
With this kind of steady climb, many consumers might end up feeling the pinch, especially on daily living costs and travel budgets.
CNG prices also jumped
The central government also confirmed one more increase in CNG prices. As per the fresh update that came out on Saturday, CNG will go up by ₹1 per kilogram.
This is basically the third CNG price hike in just 10 days. And these repeated upward moves can affect regular commuters as well as commercial operators who use CNG, mainly because it helps keep operating costs lower.
Why fuel costs keep rising again and again
There are a few reasons behind these frequent changes, including higher global crude oil rates, and also geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Plus, oil companies are dealing with increased import costs, and there’s pressure on domestic fuel supply expenses too.
Experts believe fuel prices could keep fluctuating if international crude oil markets don’t become calmer soon.
