Prime Minister Modi Completes 12 Years In Office; President Murmu Extends Congratulations

A Notable Political Milestone

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has completed 12 years in office, which becomes a kind of milestone in Indian politics, and people are noticing it more than usual. This moment was also recognized by President Droupadi Murmu, who sent her congratulations, and she also mentioned just how big this achievement is.

At the same time, this milestone lines up with a new record in the country’s political history. Modi is now the Prime Minister with the longest consecutive time in office, after being elected, he surpassed the earlier record set by Jawaharlal Nehru. Honestly, it feels like a quiet-but huge thing.

President Murmu’s Message to the Prime Minister

A Reflection of Public Trust

In her message, President Murmu called the 12 years in office a reflection of the trust citizens have placed in Modi’s leadership. She said this achievement shows a continued belief by the public in his administration, not only for a season, but in a sustained way.

Strength of India’s Democratic Setup

The President also described Modi’s political journey as a sign of how strong India’s democratic system remains. In her view, his rise to the top elected role can encourage coming generations and, at the same time, strengthen confidence in democratic bodies and institutions.

Development and Welfare Efforts

Progress in Many Directions

President Murmu said that during Modi’s time, India has seen swift forward movement across several sectors. She pointed out that development programs were meant to support infrastructure, public services, and economic growth.

Attention on the Marginalized and Tribal Communities

She further emphasized welfare programs, explaining they are designed so that the gains from development reach every section of society, even vulnerable people and those from marginalized or tribal communities. In other words, the benefits are not supposed to stop at the middle, they should spread out.

She specifically mentioned PM-JANMAN and the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, and well… both are aimed at the welfare and development of tribal communities. President Murmu said these programs, kinda have special weight for her personally.

Record for the longest consecutive tenure

Modi surpasses the previous record

Narendra Modi first took charge as Prime Minister on May 26, 2014, and he’s now in his third consecutive term. As of Wednesday, he had racked up 4,399 consecutive days in office, which is kind of a lot and clearly not small.

With that, he moved past the earlier benchmark set by India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru had 4,398 consecutive days as an elected Prime Minister, from May 13 1952, to May 27 1964.

Comparison with former Prime Ministers

Nehru now sits in second place on the list of elected Prime Ministers with the longest stretch without interruption. Indira Gandhi is ranked third, having completed 4,077 consecutive days between January 24 1966, and March 24 1977.

All this, in a way, underlines the sheer duration of Modi’s uninterrupted stay in the role as Prime Minister, and it also places his tenure among the most notable chapters in India’s political history.
