Apple has unveiled its eagerly awaited iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, featuring major upgrades to its camera, performance, battery and artificial intelligence (AI). The new Pro models were announced at Apple's September 2026 launch event and are powered by the next-generation A20 Pro chipset.

For Apple customers in India, the company has confirmed that pre-orders for its new iPhone models will begin on September 12, with sales starting September 18.

The iPhone 18 Pro will also feature a new 48MP Fusion Main camera with a variable aperture system to provide greater control over photo and video capture, improve low-light performance and offer more flexibility in capturing images and videos.

Apple has also introduced new Pro camera controls, providing greater control over how users capture images and videos.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are powered by the A20 Pro chip, which is paired with a next-generation vapor chamber to improve sustained performance for computationally heavy tasks such as gaming, video processing and AI workloads.

Battery life is another major highlight of the new iPhone lineup.

Apple states that the iPhone 18 Pro Max provides the longest battery life ever offered in an iPhone. The larger model can offer up to 45 hours of video playback according to Apple's global specifications, while Apple's India product page highlights up to 43 hours of video playback.

The improved battery performance is the result of advancements in Apple silicon, power-saving capabilities and a larger battery on the Pro Max model.

iPhone 18 Pro Display and Design

The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display while the iPhone 18 Pro Max has a larger 6.9-inch display. Both new models are built using an aluminium unibody with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and a Ceramic Shield back.

The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 in India while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900. The final price increases depending on the storage capacity.

Apple has confirmed that customers in India can pre-order the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max from September 12, with availability beginning September 18. Apple India website lists pre-orders from 5:30 PM IST on September 12.

The major differences between the two models are the size of the display, physical dimensions and battery capacity.
