Flydubai Flight Cockpit Video Reveals Chaos After Indian Pilot Is Attacked

A new video obtained from inside a Flydubai passenger plane has exposed the chaos that ensued after an alleged assault on an Indian pilot. The video has shown the disoriented passengers and flight attendants outside the cockpit, asking for medical assistance, as the injured captain lies on the floor of the aircraft.

According to the reports published on October 2, 2026, the video has reportedly captured the commotion in the cabin as passengers and crew members asked in disbelief what had happened inside the cockpit. In the video, passengers allege that the co-pilot had attempted to crash the aircraft, and flight attendants ask the captain if he needs a doctor.

Indian Pilot Smit Machchhar Injured After Being Attacked in Cockpit

Meanwhile, Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian national, can be seen on the video lying near the cockpit, with an alleged injury to his head and upper body region. As cited by the reports, Machchhar was heard telling the passengers and crew members that he sustained the injury after the co-pilot had repeatedly stabbed him.

However, despite the injuries sustained, Machchhar was able to unlock the door to the cockpit and allow the passengers and other crew members to subdue the co-pilot and restore order in the cabin. The Indian pilot, who was working for SpiceJet for about 11 years before joining Flydubai in 2022, reportedly reacted appropriately to the emergencies unfolding in the cabin of the aircraft.

Passengers and Crew Members Assist the Injured Pilot to Regain Control of the Aircraft

Notably, passengers and crew members reportedly rushed to the cockpit to assist Machchhar in subduing the co-pilot. They were heard telling the offender to behave so that the authorities could take him into custody. Despite emergency distress signals sent out, the aircraft still lost altitude and had to make an unscheduled landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, instead of proceeding to its intended destination, Tel Aviv, Israel. Upon landing, the emergency services were on standby to assist the injured Machchhar, and according to reports, all the passengers and crew members were safe.
