DC Complete Stunning Chase Against PBKS In IPL 2026 Thriller

Delhi Capitals achieved their most thrilling run chase of IPL 2026 complete with their three-wicket victory against Punjab Kings during a match which featured high scoring. DC completed their run chase of 211 runs successfully after they managed to recover from an early batting collapse and finished the game within 19 overs. Axar Patel scored an attacking half-century and David Miller along with Ashutosh Sharma and Madhav Tiwari delivered strong finishing efforts to secure the victory for Delhi.

The PBKS batting team started the match with powerful performance which helped them establish a higher scoring total. The team lost their chance to win another crucial match because they experienced a scoring slowdown during middle overs and their bowlers performed poorly during death overs.

Delhi Capitals Recover After Early Collapse

DC started their run chase with a disastrous beginning. The team lost three wickets for only 33 runs and quickly came under pressure. Yash Thakur removed Abhishek Porel early through his delivery while Arshdeep Singh dismissed KL Rahul and Sahil Parakh in successive overs.

At that point, PBKS held the match under their control. The required run rate kept increasing which forced Delhi to create a batting partnership that would keep them competitive in the match.

Axar Patel entered the match with self-assurance. He started his offensive strategy which he continued until he reached his objective. Tristan Stubbs struggled to generate runs during the game because he could only achieve 12 runs before his run out.

Axar maintained his ability to keep DC competitive throughout the game through his aggressive batting performance after the partnership between him and his partner ended.

Axar Patel Changes the Momentum

The batting performance of Axar Patel established a new course for the match. He scored 56 runs from only 30 balls and struck boundaries regularly against both pace and spin.

Delhi needed 124 runs in the final 10 overs when Axar increased the scoring rate. He successfully hit Dwarshuis and Marcus Stoinis with powerful batting attacks. After Axar hit two consecutive boundaries Stoinis lost his control of the game because he had to face more pressure from Axar.

His innings gave DC belief during a difficult phase of the chase. Delhi had already started to gain control of the match after he attempted an aggressive batting approach that ended in his dismissal.

The PBKS bowling attack failed to defend their middle overs through their inability to maintain control of the game.

Miller, Ashutosh, and Madhav Finish the Chase

David Miller became the leader of the chase after Axar got out. He began his performance with slow movement before he reached his peak speed at the correct time. Miller scored 51 runs from 28 balls and hit important sixes during the final overs.

PBKS still had a chance when Delhi required 53 runs from the last four overs. However, their bowlers failed to execute under pressure.

Miller attacked Dwarshuis with back-to-back sixes which brought DC closer to their target. Punjab lost control of the game after he made that explosive play.

Ashutosh Sharma then played a quick cameo of 24 runs from 10 balls. Madhav Tiwari scored 18 runs without getting out from eight pitches while he maintained the team's scoring flow.

The 18th over proved costly for PBKS as Stoinis conceded 19 runs. That over shifted the pressure completely onto Punjab.

The Delhi team required 17 runs to win the match from the two remaining overs. Yash Thakur bowled a tense 19th over which included a no-ball that provided DC with another chance. Aqib Nabi smashed the free-hit delivery for four to level the scores and then sealed the victory with a six.

The final match score of DC showed they achieved 216 runs with seven wickets lost after 19 overs of play.

PBKS Start Strong but Lose Momentum

The PBKS team started their batting at a high intensity after the opposing team decided to let them bat first. Mitchell Starc faced an immediate attack from Priyansh Arya who hit two sixes during the first over. Punjab scored 51 runs without any losses in three overs because Starc permitted 22 runs during that over.

During the powerplay Priyansh displayed his fearless hitting skills to dominate the pitch. He achieved 56 runs from 33 balls which enabled PBKS to build a strong foundation for their high scoring match.

Prabhsimran Singh experienced difficulties with quick scoring yet he played an important role until his dismissal at 18 runs.

The scoring pace decreased after Priyansh's departure from the game. Shreyas Iyer scored 59 runs from 36 balls which he used to establish himself as the main scorer for his team. Connolly scored 38 runs but he played at a slow pace throughout most of his time at the crease.

The bowlers for Delhi maintained control over the game at their primary pitching distance throughout the middle part of the match. Mohammad Nabi achieved bowling accuracy which enabled him to stop PBKS from continuing their early match success.

The first 15 overs of Punjab's innings brought them to 149 runs with two wickets lost yet they failed to make full use of their subsequent opportunities. The team scored 61 runs in their last five overs while losing three wickets.

Suyansh helped PBKS reach 210/5 with his 21 runs from eight balls which he achieved through late match performance.

Punjab’s Missed Opportunities Hurt Their Chances

The first batting opportunity that the team failed to convert into a victory showed itself during their offensive play. Punjab showed excellent performance during the powerplay yet their performance decreased during middle overs. After Priyansh Arya left the team could not continue attacking their opponents.

The second major problem came with the ball. Arshdeep Singh started the match for PBKS by achieving two early wickets but the bowlers lost their ability to apply pressure after Axar Patel began his counterattack.

The death overs became the biggest concern. Stoinis, Dwarshuis, and Yash Thakur all leaked boundaries at crucial stages. PBKS also failed to recover after dismissing Miller late in the chase.

The no-ball in the 19th over summed up Punjab’s difficult night. That mistake removed any remaining chance of defending the target.

This defeat marked PBKS’s fourth loss in 11 matches during IPL 2026.
