Rajasthan Paper Leak Case Raises Serious Concerns
The investigation found materials that proved essential to the NEET UG 2026 exam questions. Vishal Bansal, the Rajasthan Additional Director General of Police, provided investigation details about the case.
Sikar officials from Rajasthan declared they found a practice paper which contained 120 Chemistry questions, 42 hours before the May 03 exam. The investigators found strong similarities between the materials and the actual NEET UG question paper.
The authorities found that multiple questions and answer choices displayed almost complete similarity to each other. The two materials showed shared similarities which created suspicion about their link to a security breach.
Question Paper Spread Through WhatsApp Before May 03
The investigators found that practice materials distributed through WhatsApp groups throughout Rajasthan. The content moved through coaching centers which student networks used to reach hostels that served medical exam preparation purposes.
Officials said the material reached several candidates before the examination date.
The investigation traced the material to an MBBS student studying at a medical college in Kerala. The student shared the paper with his friend from Sikar on May 01 according to police.
The content started to spread through postgraduate hostels and career counseling centers and coaching facilities which NEET UG aspirants used.
The leaked material reportedly included more than 300 handwritten questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
Money Exchanged for Leaked Material
Rajasthan police reported that some students paid large sums to obtain the material. Officials reported that the leaked content was sold for amounts ranging from ₹20,000 to ₹2 lakh.
Investigators discovered that candidates had collected advance payments exceeding ₹30,000 before their scheduled examination.
The evidence proved that organized fraudulent activities operated through the paper leak operation.
Police and CBI Investigation Underway
The Rajasthan police have made multiple arrests of suspects who are connected to the case. Authorities maintain their investigations to determine the identity of people who distributed the prohibited material.
The NTA announced that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is conducting a different investigation regarding the allegations. The agency will investigate how the materials were obtained and shared before the test date.
The officials have not yet determined the number of students who might have accessed the stolen materials.
Impact on Students Preparing for NEET UG
The NEET UG 2026 cancellation has resulted in confusion among medical admission candidates who were studying for the exam. The examination, which took place on May 03, required many candidates to study for several months.
The NTA has entered a process in which students await the arrival of new examination dates and additional guidance. Parents and candidates have filed complaints about national-level test security and fairness issues that will affect upcoming assessments.
Education experts believe that stricter monitoring systems and tighter controls will emerge during the investigation process of the case.
