The investigation into the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak has received new findings. Investigators allege that the examination controversy began when a student obtained a PDF document just before the test started. The material which initially seemed like a "guess paper" developed into the main element of a research project that had nationwide scope.
Police sources claim that a hostel owner from Rajasthan played a major role in bringing the matter to light. The case expanded into a multi-state investigation which brought together the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the Intelligence Bureau and the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG).
Questions Raised After the NEET Examination
The NEET UG 2026 examination took place throughout India with strict security measures in place. Security issues emerged immediately after the examination began.
Investigators discovered that a medical student from Sikar district in Rajasthan received a PDF file containing NEET questions at 11:00 PM on May 2 which came just hours before the examination. The student is currently studying MBBS in Kerala.
His friend from Sikar sent the PDF document to him according to reports. The student sent the document to his father in Rajasthan because he thought it was a "guess paper." His father runs a hostel in the region.
Hostel Owner and Teacher Alert Authorities
The hostel owner and the teacher contacted authorities to present their findings. The hostel owner discovered the message on the following day after which he sent the PDF document to a chemistry teacher he knew. The NEET examination had already begun at multiple testing centers throughout the country at that time.
The teacher discovered that 108 questions from the PDF matched questions from the actual NEET question paper. The similarities between both sections of the exam raised increased suspicions about a potential paper leak.
The hostel owner and the teacher later approached the police with their concerns. Local police stations did not create a report about the incident according to sources.
How the "Guess Paper" Became Evidence
The hostel owner and chemistry teacher sent an email to the National Testing Agency after local authorities failed to take immediate action.
More than six days had passed since the examination. The NTA requested the Intelligence Bureau to assist with their investigation into the allegations.
The Rajasthan SOG started an extensive investigation after their initial findings showed evidence of wrongdoing. Officials have not publicly revealed the identities of the hostel owner, the MBBS student, or the chemistry teacher due to security concerns.
Police Investigation and NTA Response
Investigators found new information about how the question paper leaked after they traced the suspected source of the leak.
Police identified two brothers from Rajasthan — Mangilal and Dinesh Biwal from the Jamwa Ramgarh area — as key suspects in the case. The NEET question paper reached the brothers on April 26 when they obtained it from a doctor who practiced in Gurugram before the examination date.
According to police sources, one of the brothers purchased the paper for his son, who was preparing for NEET 2026.
Multiple States Served as the Distribution Area for the Paper
The investigation discovered that the paper had been distributed to multiple people on April 29.
The officials discovered that the questions had been distributed to candidates throughout multiple states which included Bihar and Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. Investigators now study the extent of paper distribution to determine whether organized networks took part.
The case has created serious doubts about the protection measures used during national entrance examinations.
Arrests and Ongoing Inquiry
The authorities have arrested multiple suspects who were involved in the NEET 2026 paper leak case. The police teams execute two main operations which involve interviewing suspects and investigating digital traces that connect to the paper distribution.
The National Testing Agency responded to the controversy with significant operational changes. The authorities canceled the NEET examination after leak allegations emerged which created uncertainty for lakhs of students across the country.
The officials state that the investigation continues at this time while the authorities will execute additional arrests after they complete their evidence assessment.
