After Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL final win, the celebrations kind of got messy in a few places in Andhra Pradesh, like there were a bunch of vandalism incidents. During the RCB celebrations, police said they found damage to public property, attacks on buses, and disturbances on public roads around Kurnool and nearby towns, with some people acting, sort of careless late in the night.

Celebrations after the IPL final win

Once RCB won the final, groups of people showed up in different locations to celebrate. In Kurnool, authorities reported that some of these celebrations turned disorderly late Sunday night. They also mentioned that a number of individuals did things that caused damage to public infrastructure and messed up traffic. 

People started talking about ipl 2026rcb and the team’s win everywhere online, though, local officials stayed focused on keeping things calm, and trying to stop things from getting worse.

Damage reported on public roads

Police reports said that roadside advertising boards were damaged during the disturbances. Signboards on road dividers, as well as traffic barricades, were broken too.  

Officials added that some streetlights were vandalized. On top of that, promotional banners and flex boards placed in public areas were reportedly removed and then set on fire on roadways. As a result, public property got hit across multiple locations in the city.

Buses targeted during the disturbances

The unrest also touched public transport. Two RTC buses from the Atmakur depot, traveling toward Hyderabad, were stopped during the incidents.

Police said the windows on both buses got damaged. Stones were thrown too, at three private buses moving through the area. Some people reportedly tried to climb onto the buses, which made the passengers pretty concerned, for a while.

As the situation kept going , many passengers felt fear and uncertainty. Transport services saw a temporary disruption until police stepped in and restored order.

Police Action to Restore Order

Police responded and started taking steps to disperse the crowd. In some places, a baton charge was used so the situation could be controlled, without much delay.

After things were stabilized, officers arranged security escorts for the buses that were affected. Only then the buses were permitted to move on again safely. Passengers said they felt relieved once the vehicles left the disturbed areas, with police protection.

Similar Incidents in Other Areas

Authorities also received reports that similar disturbances happened in Adoni and Allagadda. Even though details varied from town to town , officials said that celebrations there too turned into public disorder, along with damage to property.

Investigations were carried out separately , depending on the local reports and what evidence was available.

Investigation and Arrests

Police checked CCTV footage and also looked at videos shared on social media, to figure out who was involved in the vandalism. After the probe, authorities arrested 18 people.

Police said the accused included masons, daily wage workers, a person described as a habitual offender , and three B.Tech students. Officials added that the arrests happened after they verified evidence collected from several sources.

Court Proceedings

Following the arrests, the accused were taken from the police station to the court. The movement took place under police supervision.

As directed by the court, notices were issued and served to the accused. Legal proceedings are expected to continue in accordance with applicable laws and court procedures.
