PM Modi Congratulates ISRO After Successful NVS-03 Satellite Launch: How India's NavIC System Will Benefit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the scientists and engineers at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on the successful launch of the GSLV-F18 rocket with the NVS-03 navigation satellite. This mission has marked another milestone for India's space programme and will boost the country's ability to create its own satellite navigation systems.

PM Modi expressed his praise for the hard work and ingenuity of the scientists working in India's space sector after the mission's success. The mission will help boost the NavIC satellite navigation system, which is entirely created in India.

This boost in functionality will also help improve services for citizens.

PM Modi Praises ISRO Scientists For NVS-03 Mission

After the successful launch, Narendra Modi took to social media site X to congratulate the mission.

"The NVS-03 mission marks an important milestone in boosting India's independent navigation capabilities. We appreciate the continued hard work and dedication of the ISRO scientists and engineers. Their hard work and ingenuity never ceases to make us proud."

This shows the emphasis the government places on creating its own space technology.

ISRO Successfully Launches GSLV-F18 With NVS-03

The Indian Space Research Organisation have successfully launched the GSLV-F18 rocket with the NVS-03 satellite.

The launch took place at 11.51pm on 30 th October 2026 after a 24 hour countdown. This mission marked the 20 th flight of the GSLV.

The navigation satellite, weighing around 2232 kg, was successfully deployed into its intended orbit, the Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit (GTO). The launch showed the successful performance of the three stages of the rocket, including the cryogenic upper stage.

What Is The NVS-03 Satellite?

The NVS-03 is the third satellite in ISRO's new generation of navigation satellites. It has been created to boost the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System, or NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation).

The satellite has advanced navigation capabilities and includes an indigenous Rubidium atomic clock. It also has extra atomic clocks.

A key feature of the satellite is the addition of a civil L1 navigation signal.

This will help increase compatibility with modern navigation systems.

How Will NavIC Benefit From NVS-03?

NavIC is an independent regional satellite navigation system in India. It provides Position Navigation and Timing (PNT) services over the Indian landmass and up to 1500 km beyond.

The successful mission has brought NavIC back to its minimum configuration of 4 satellites. This will help boost the infrastructure.

Some key uses of the system are;

  • Tracking trains in real time.
  • Navigation for road vehicles.
  • Tracking vessels.
  • Disaster and emergency management.
  • Precise positioning.
  • Synchronisation for telecommunications.

The addition of this satellite will improve the reliability of India's independent navigation system.

Indigenous Atomic Clock A Key Feature

  • One of the key features of the NVS-03 is the indigenous Rubidium atomic clock.
  • Atomic clocks are a key feature of satellite navigation systems as precise timing is needed to pinpoint precise locations of receivers.
  • By developing its own atomic clock, India is increasing its ability to create independent navigation systems.
  • This is crucial in reducing reliance on foreign technology in crucial sectors.

NVS-03 And India's One Nation, One Time Initiative

The NavIC satellite constellation helps India reach its goal of having a reliable timekeeping system throughout the country.

It can be used to help achieve the government's One Nation, One Time initiative by providing precise timing information for sectors such as the banking industry, telecommunications, transportation, power and financial industries.

India has taken another step in boosting its domestic positioning and timing with the successful launch.

ISRO's Achievement Boosts India's Space Programme

  • The launch of the NVS-03 marks another milestone in India's growing space technology.
  • ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan has congratulated the scientists, engineers, industries and academic institutions involved in the mission. The satellite has been successfully deployed into its intended orbit and has been completed in only 56 days between GSLV missions.
  • This shows how much Indian industries are contributing to the space programme.
  • India continues to grow its capabilities in satellite navigation, telecommunications, earth observation and advanced rocket technology.
