Prime Video Viewers to Start Viewing Ads
Amazon Prime Video will be displaying ads in movies and television programs soon. As of June 17, existing Prime subscribers will start noticing a limited amount of ads. Amazon has notified users via emails regarding this update.
Why Amazon Is Adding Ads
Amazon explains the new ad policy is meant to enhance content quality. Unlike television, Amazon asserts the ads will be "meaningful." The price of the standard Prime membership will remain the same.
New Ad-Free Plans Available
Customers who don't wish to see ads can pay for add-ons. The ad-free add-ons are priced at:
- ₹129 per month
- ₹699 per year
The add-ons will become available from June 17.
Ads Now in India Too
Amazon used to show ads only in countries like the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and Mexico. Now, it is rolling out ads in India too. Prime-Lite plan users already get to see ads.
