Chandrababu Naidu Faces Accusations In The Rs 4,400 Crore Amaravati Land Scam

In a chargesheet, the Andhra Pradesh Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) identified former minister P Narayana and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu as the principal defendants in the Rs 4,400 crore Amaravati land fraud.

The leaders of the Telugu Desam Party, K. P. V. Anjani Kumar, Sudheer Babu, and Narayana, are charged with stealing 1,100 acres of land valued at Rs 4,400 crore.

"In conspiracy with Naidu, Narayana, other ministers, and their benamis, with an intention to grab the assigned lands in the capital city area from the SCs, STs, and BCs, put them under the apprehension that the assigned lands would be taken away by the government under the land pooling scheme without giving any package, and purchased the lands from them at lower prices," a government release stated.

Government officials issued the government order (GO MS No. 41) to include the allotted lands in Mandadam, Velagapudi, Rayapudi, Uddandarayunipalem, and other villages in the capital city land pooling programme under pressure from the accused, according to the inquiry agency's chargesheet.

"Despite the clear and binding legal advice given by the then Advocate General, the accused deliberately and in a coordinated manner violated the legal mandate," the press statement stated.

Additionally, it claimed that funds totaling Rs 16.5 crore had been transferred from educational institutions and businesses connected to Narayana's family members to Ramakrishna Housing Pvt. Ltd. and other real estate intermediaries. These intermediaries then paid the farmers for the lands that had been assigned to them to arrange purportedly illicit sales agreements in Narayana's name.

According to the investigation agency, Narayana and his accomplices obtained up to 162 acres of assigned land, while allies of Chandrababu Naidu also obtained hundreds of acres of assigned land in the capital city area.

It also highlighted the fact that 1,336 additional individuals claimed benefits from the pooling programme for 946 acres of land under the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA), even though income records for 2014 showed that the land was actually owned by several individuals.

According to the state investigation agency, Brahmananda Reddy, a different realtor who handled the agreements on allotted property, requested that the ACB Court accept him as a prosecution witness (approver), a request that the court is currently evaluating.
