Rachin Ravindra: Youngest Sir Richard Hadlee Medal Recipient

Rachin Ravindra, a top-order batsman for New Zealand, was awarded the nation's outstanding male cricketer of the year on Wednesday, making him the youngest recipient of the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal. Amelia Kerr, on the other hand, won the Debbie Hockley medal for the second consecutive year to emerge as the year's best female cricket player.

Kane Williamson won the Redpath Cup for men's first-class batting and was named the ANZ Test Player of the Year. After a season in which he established himself as an important part of New Zealand's red and white teams, Ravindra, 24, became the youngest winner of the award in the award's history.

Joining the 50-over team in March of last year, Ravindra looked impressive throughout the India ODI World Cup, amassing 578 runs at an average of 64, including two half-centuries and three hundreds, including an undefeated 123 against England in Ahmedabad.

Consequently, Ravindra signed a USD 350,000 Indian Premier League contract with the Chennai Super Kings and was named the ICC's Emerging Player of the Year for 2023. Ravindra's breakthrough season on the international level, when he helped the Kiwis in all three formats, was rounded off with the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal.

Against South Africa at Bay Oval, Ravindra scored New Zealand's highest-ever maiden Test century of 240, continuing his incredible rise in the sport. He also had a significant impact on the Black Caps' first-ever triumph against South Africa in a Test series.

The Chennai Super Kings, the IPL's most successful team, signed him for an incredible Rs 1.8 crore. The eager New Zealand hitter will be ready to contribute to his team and have a big first season in the lucrative league. Rachin will shortly travel to Chennai to participate in the CSK team's pre-tournament camp.

The ODI and T20I Player of the Year awards went to Daryl Mitchell and Mitchell Santner, respectively. Amelia Kerr won every prize in the women's division, taking home the titles of ODI and T20I Player of the Year.
