Oben Electric Launches The Rorr Evo Motorcycle
Oben Electric kind of rolled out its new electric motorcycle, the Rorr Evo, into the Indian market now. They say the bike gives a ride feel similar to what you’d get from a 150cc petrol motorcycle, but with lower running costs and also a more affordable purchase price, which honestly sounds like the key selling point.
This launch also counts as another step in the company’s plan to keep expanding its electric two-wheeler footprint across southern India, bit by bit, over time.
Performance and Battery quirks
For the Rorr Evo, Oben Electric has put in a 3.4 kW battery pack. The company claims the motorcycle can go up to 180 kilometers on one charge, assuming standard riding conditions, not like extreme city torture.
The performance part is framed as comparable to a 150cc petrol-powered bike. And to make it more appealing, they’ve introduced it in four different color options, so riders can choose something more personal rather than only “the default” look.
Pricing and affordability talk
Pricing wise, Oben Electric is offering the Rorr Evo at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹99,999 for the first 10,000 customers. After that early window, the price will go up to ₹124,999, and yep it’s a pretty noticeable jump.
Harshavardhan Deshmukh, Vice President of Oben Electric, said the motorcycle is priced around 40% lower than comparable petrol-powered options. He also explained that local manufacturing matters a lot here, since it helps the company keep costs under control, more or less.
Local manufacturing helps production
Oben Electric says 99% of the motorcycle’s components are manufactured in India. That kind of domestic sourcing, it helps them manage production costs while keeping supply efficiency steady, without unnecessary delays.
They’ve also said the manufacturing facility is in Bengaluru. The plant spans 3.5 acres and has received an investment of ₹300 crore. According to Oben Electric, the facility can produce up to 120,000 units per year, which should support wider availability.
Retail Expansion in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
Oben Electric is also kind of expanding its retail network across southern states.
Right now, the company runs five stores in Telangana. They are planning to push that up to 25, before the end of the ongoing financial year.
In Andhra Pradesh, Oben Electric currently has four sales outlets. It wants to scale this to 10 outlets by next March.
The company says, a stronger dealership presence will make it easier for customers to reach them, and it will also help future sales growth later on.
Upcoming Motorcycle Plans
Oben Electric has confirmed that one more electric motorcycle will roll out later this year. The new model is expected to deliver performance that is on par with, you know, a 100cc petrol motorcycle.
However, the company has not yet revealed any extra specifications or pricing for the new vehicle, so details are still pending for now.
