Solar Power In Kuppam Constituency: A Roadmap For Sustainable Energy

The Kuppam constituency of Chittoor district is all set to be an example of perfect implementation of solar power. The PM Suryagarh Scheme will mark the most significant milestone in the endeavour. Shortly, a pilot program will start as well by incorporating solar systems in domestic electricity supply connections. Official machinery is being prepared for supplying solar power to 50,000 homes under the constituency.

Initiative to Supply Solar Power to Homes

Kuppam Rural Electric Cooperative Society oversees about 1.30 lakh electricity connections in the area, of which 77,000 are household. After studying the possibility, SPDCL and RESCO have set an initial target of 50,000 household connections for the consumption of solar energy. In as much as each of many houses consumes several electricity services, this number ensures household coverage of individual electricity use.

A detailed survey has established the space requirements for each household to integrate into the solar power system efficiently. The government offices and agricultural services will also be shifted to the use of solar energy with an emphasis on sustainability. The use of a net metering system will ensure that surplus electricity is sold back to the government by the residents to utilize energy effectively.

Subsidy-Funded Solar Expansion

The project is largely subsidized, which will be very affordable for the residents. Under the PM Suryagarh Scheme, the central government will be bearing 60% of the costs, and the Andhra Pradesh state government will bear the remaining 40%. The target is to provide uninterrupted solar power to all households in the constituency.

The total project cost was estimated at ₹1,000 crore. It can provide electricity to residents continuously, while being environmental-friendly. It is the transformation of a game-changing dimension, ensuring energy independence alongside the decrease in impact over the environment.

Launching of the Scheme

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will be inaugurating the project in early January. It is going to be a launch event at Birudanapalle, Kuppam mandal. This marks the beginning of a transformative era for the region, and this sets the precedent for other constituencies to follow.
