Interrogation of Jayasudha at Bandaru Police Station
Jayasudha, wife of former minister and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader Perni Venkatramaiah (Nani), was brought to the Bandaru police station for interrogation in connection with a case of rice theft. Investigating officer Yesubabu questioned her for two and a half hours on the issues of warehouse management by Manas Teja, huge bank transactions, phone communications, and suspected tampering with the weir bridge. Jayasudha reportedly told that the warehouse manager had mismanaged the operations including diverting rice without her knowledge as he was suffering from health issues.
In the interrogation process, Jayasudha was rather vague in response and mostly responded with, "I don't know," or "I don't remember." CI Yesubabu says she cooperated with the process, and added further investigation may be required if the findings are there from some other accused persons.
Notice Served Amid Public Scrutiny
Police tried to deliver a notice to Jayasudha at her residence on Tuesday night, asking her to appear before the investigation on Wednesday. When she was not available, the officers pasted the notice on her house. In such a scenario, the family celebrated New Year with fans and party leaders. Jayasudha later appeared for questioning in the city mayor's government car, which invited criticism over the misuse of an official vehicle.
YSRCP Supporters Fill the Station
The probe witnessed intense participation by YSRCP leaders such as the mayor, deputy mayor, corporators, lawyers, and other party workers, who accompanied Jayasudha to the police station. Party leaders waited outside the probe room, where it is alleged that they even looked into the probe room and complained that Jayasudha was being harassed for a long time due to her health conditions. Sub-Inspector Satyanarayana explained the issue to the supporters.
