Private personal assistant (PA) to Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, Sandhu Jagadish, has been sacked on allegations of corruption. Jagadish was accused of indulging in illegal collections, providing unauthorized transfers, and settling postings and recommendations. According to reports, his conduct and behavior were something of a point of contention for TDP members and others seeking aid from the Home Minister. Though he served as Anitha's PA for ten years, his acts brought him under criticism from one and all.
Misconduct Allegation and Controversy Over Support
Critics claimed that Anitha had implicit support for Jagadish's acts, which included anarchy and illegal collections. Despite her initial resistance to the demands to remove him, the mounting public complaints and internal pressures made her ultimately sack him. Anitha confirmed the decision publicly in a meeting with TDP activists in the Payakaraopet constituency, a development welcomed by the victims of Jagadish's behavior.
Internal Opposition and Threats
The internal meetings of some TDP leaders from the S. Rayavaram mandal discussed Jagadish's misbehavior. According to sources, Jagadish threatened them to "do what you will." They did not speak out then because of fear of consequences and respect for the Home Minister.
Illegal Activities
Accusations suggest that Jagadish has poker camps operating under his aegis in S. Rayavaram and Payakaraopet mandals. Some reports indicate this was temporarily done away with owing to media exposes. The pressures on excise officials to gain shares from those who had earned liquor shop licences are another set of accusations. Still, it is said to have sold tirumala darshan recommendation letters issued from Home Minister's Office to a Private Hotel in Tirupati
Moving On Along with Celebrations
The relief and jubilation at party cadres and the people negatively impacted by his action are relieved at the decision to remove Jagadish. The purpose of removing him is to rebuild confidence in the Home Minister's office and stop future malpractice.
