RCB Can End Its 18-Year Wait: Sunil Gavaskar

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has become a solid bet for the Indian Premier League 2025 playoffs. With successive victories and well-rounded performances in batting, bowling, and fielding, the team is now on the brink of securing qualification in the knockout stage with one additional victory. Cricketer and experienced cricket coach Sunil Gavaskar stated that RCB could be the ones ending the 18-year title run of the team or have the potential to be the champion.

Gavaskar Maintains RCB's Overall Stamina

Well-loved cricket speaker Sunil Gavaskar has given a thumbs-up to the RCB Bengaluru team, who have rebounded impressively in the current season of IPL. He had attributed the team's turn-around in all aspects of the game — batting, fielding, and bowling — as the reason behind their current winning streak. Gavaskar asserted that if RCB maintains this form, they actually have a possibility of ending their 18-year wait for an IPL title.

Gavaskar identified RCB's greatest challenge being their next game against Chennai Super Kings in the Chinnaswamy Stadium. If they won that pressure game, RCB would be sealed into the playoffs. He also mentioned Mumbai Indians as a strong contender, praising their aggressive way of playing but raising concerns on how they could be consistent during the end phase of the league.

RCB's Tactical Decisions Prove to be Successful

Former England skipper Eoin Morgan also had his share of opinions on RCB's current success. He praised the team’s strong, smart and gutsy strategies and mentioned that the addition of Phil Salt in the playing XI swung the top order in tandem with Virat Kohli. It was their attacking game at the top, Morgan reckoned, that eased pressure on the middle order, allowing for more even innings in matches.

Morgan also lauded RCB's bowling unit, specifically mentioning Josh Hazlewood. Although established as one of the top Test bowlers, Hazlewood has impressed with his transformation to the T20 format. Morgan concluded that RCB fans have reasons to be optimistic as the team is now well-placed to secure a playoff spot based on sustained and quality performances.
