IPL 2025: RCB Signs Tim Seifert Before Playoffs

RCB Qualifies for Playoffs

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has already booked their spot in the IPL 2025 playoffs. The team won 8 of its 12 matches to date. RCB is in second position on the points table with 17 points.

Schedule Realignment Affects Availability

There has been a delay in the IPL for a week because of tensions along the India-Pakistan border. There have been a few alterations in team lineups as well. The playoffs are going to miss Jacob Bethell from England. He's going away for national team duty to the ODI series against West Indies in England starting May 29 following the match on May 23.

RCB Signs Tim Seifert

RCB has acquired New Zealand cricketer Tim Seifert as a replacement for Bethell. The franchise will compensate Seifert with ₹2 crore for his services. Seifert was a done deal on May 22, and it will be in force from May 24.

Seifert's Stats and IPL Experience

Tim Seifert has played 66 international T20 games and scored 1,540 runs. The player has previously played in the 2022 season of the IPL, and he played three games.

Upcoming RCB Matches

Bethell will play his last game at RCB of the season on May 23, where they have a match with Sunrisers Hyderabad. Their next game will be with Lucknow Super Giants on May 27. Seifert will likely play in that game.

Jos Buttler Also Out

Another England cricketer, Jos Buttler of Gujarat Titans, will be absent from the playoffs as well. He will report to England for the ODI and T20 series against West Indies soon.
