Virat Kohli Reflects On RCB's First-Ever Title Win In IPL History

RCB Claims First Title After 18 Seasons

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their first Indian Premier League (IPL) title by outplaying Punjab Kings in the final by six runs. They achieved this feat in the 18th edition of the tournament. It was the end of a long wait for the team, as well as for its fans. Virat Kohli, who has been part of RCB since its first season, was visibly emotional after the match.

Kohli hugged his wife, Anushka Sharma, at the end of the game. He celebrated with his former teammates Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers and the rest of the RCB team.

Kohli Declares the Victory Is for the Team and the Fans

Kohli gave his insights after the game, noting the importance of the moment.

"This victory is special for the fans, the team, and me. I have invested my youth, energy, and experience in RCB. We attempted to win the title every year. I did everything that was possible. It feels surreal to eventually lift the trophy," he said.

He added that he never thought a day like this would come around. "Post the last ball, I couldn't keep my emotions in check. AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle also well deserve this victory. They have given a lot to the team," said Kohli.

Kohli remembered telling AB de Villiers beforehand that it would be a special match. He said that both De Villiers and Gayle had a lasting impact on RCB.

Kohli Renew His Allegiance to RCB

Kohli declared his commitment to RCB, declaring that he would remain with the club until the end of his career in the IPL.

"My heart is always with Bangalore. I informed the team that I'll continue to play for RCB till my last IPL match. But I never want to be an impact player. I want to be on the field for all 20 overs. That's my game plan."

He also complimented the team management and the quality of the current team. "Lots of people doubted our auction decisions. But after seeing the team, I was sure. The players have shown themselves."

Kohli Remains Attached to Test Cricket

Finally, Kohli spoke about his love for Test cricket.

"I have a lot of wonderful memories in my career. I still enjoy Test cricket. I want youngsters to value the format," he said.
