BCB Chief Declares Bangladesh Welcomes Team India Any Time
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Animul Islam has assured that Bangladesh is prepared to welcome the Indian cricket team. According to the scheduled plan, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 (T20) matches between India and Bangladesh are scheduled to take place this August.
But there is doubt about the tour. For diplomatic and logistical reasons, it is not certain if the Indian government will give permission for the trip. Animul Islam explained that in the event Team India is unable to tour Bangladesh in August, BCB will try to reschedule the series.
Series Could Be Rescheduled If Needed
"Our discussions with the BCCI are always cordial. If the Indian team is not able to come next month, we will discuss new plans to host the matches. If the series is not possible in August, we will remain prepared to host them later. The final word depends on the Indian government's clearance," Animul added.
India is presently playing a five-match Test series against England, with the series set to finish by August 5. They are likely to tour Bangladesh after that, pending official sanctions.
BCB to Sign Deal With Simon Taufel to Train Umpires
In other news, Animul Islam revealed a new project to enhance the standard of umpiring in Bangladesh. BCB is close to signing a three-year deal with ex-top ICC umpire Simon Taufel.
"We have taken steps to enhance umpiring education. We are close to signing a three-year contract with Simon Taufel. His team will support us in improving the skills of our umpires," said the BCB President.
