Kumar Sangakkara and Rahul Dravid saw Vaibhav's potential from a young age. Sangakkara, now employed as a commentator for India-England Test series and Director of Cricket Operations for Rajasthan Royals, talked about Vaibhav in an interview.

Sangakkara Shares Insights on Vaibhav's Talent

"Vaibhav is an extremely skilled young player," Sangakkara added. "A Rajasthan Royals analyst messaged us in 2023 that we should keep an eye on this player and perhaps sign him after his trial. We watched him in the nets at Guwahati when we signed him."

Sangakkara revealed that Jofra Archer was bowling during those sessions. Vaibhav batted against Archer and the other quick bowlers with ease. "You could see he had time enough to play the ball. His reaction and control were really good," he said.

"His bat looked strong, like a gunshot. He placed the ball well," Sangakkara said. "His shots down the off side were great. His movement and footwork around the crease appeared natural."

Sangakkara appreciated Vaibhav's dedication towards improvement. "He possesses all the skills a T20 batsman needs. I think he will become an even better player in the coming times."
