India Clinches Victory in Final Test
India won a crucial Test match against England in the last Test match, drawing the five-match series 2-2. England began Day 5 at 339/6, having a target of 374 runs. They were bowled out for 367. Mohammed Siraj took 5 wickets, and Prasidh Krishna took 4, both playing important roles in India's win. Players of Team India spoke about their performance after the match.
Shubman Gill: Both Sides Played at a High Level
Team India skipper Shubman Gill appreciated both teams for their performances in the last Test. He added that the result of the match was uncertain until the final day. Gill mentioned that both teams played good cricket.
"bowlers like Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna eased my captaincy. Our performance was great. We felt that we would win today, just like yesterday.". We wanted to put pressure on England until the very last. We did the same thing. Siraj played wonderfully. The 2-2 series score is a true reflection of how hard both sides played. For me, I wanted to be the best batsman in the series. To achieve that feels special. Mentally, we have to keep things even. What we learned in the past six weeks is going to linger, " said Gill.
Siraj: I Targeted Bowling in Right Regions
Mohammed Siraj revealed his primary aim was to bowl in the right areas and challenge the batsmen. He clarified he didn't care about the wickets coming down or the runs being scored.
“I didn’t think I had crossed the line when catching Harry Brook near the boundary. That moment shifted the match. After that, Brook played aggressively, almost like in a T20 game. We fell behind a bit, but I always believed we would win. That belief paid off,” Siraj explained.
KL Rahul: This Match Was Unmatched in Joy
KL Rahul was also deeply content with the victory, going so far as to compare it to some of the greatest wins in history.
"I've been with teams that have won the Champions Trophy and World Cup. But this game gave me more happiness than any other. There were many who doubted the future of Test cricket. The manner we have played has dispelled those doubts. We battled in every game and tied the series. This isn't a draw—it's a statement.". Indian team came into this series without experienced players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ashwin. Everyone questioned England's condition, but we settled down. Shubman Gill conducted the team wonderfully, and I feel he can turn out to be a great Test captain," stated Rahul.
