Rohit and Virat Continue to Shine in ODIs
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, former Indian captains, played very aggressively in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia. Rohit scored a century and a half-century, while Virat also registered a half-century. As a matter of fact, both Rohit and Virat will not take part in international cricket for a short period of time until the beginning of the next ODI series against South Africa.
For now, they have been focusing only on the ODI format. They want to play until the next ODI World Cup as well, and fans will also like to see them in action for a longer time. But the question is if they will be regularly selected by the team management.
Arun Dhumal Clarifies Retirement Rumours
The chairman of IPL, Arun Dhumal, addressed the speculations on Rohit and Virat's futures. He declared that neither of them is looking to retire anytime soon.
He said, “We have been discussing India's reserve bench strength for many years. Now, young talents like Vaibhav Suryavanshi are ready to step in. Many people feel that Rohit and Virat may step away, but they are not going anywhere. Rohit's recent performance against Australia proves his commitment. He won both Player of the Match and Player of the Series awards. He is still giving his best to Indian cricket."
IPL 2026 Mini Auction Expected Next Month
Reports have surfaced that the mini auction for the IPL 2026 season might get staged next month. The BCCI is yet to make an official announcement in this regard.
In the last two years, the auction was held outside the country—Dubai in 2023 and Saudi Arabia in 2024. This time, it is likely to take place in India. Sources close to cricket say that dates between December 13 and 15 are likely. The IPL franchises have already started making a list of players for retention and release ahead of the auction.
