Alyssa Healy, captain of the Australian women's cricket team, remained unsold in the WPL 2026 auction. Her base price was Rs. 50 lakh. Fans were surprised because she is known as a strong batter. She played earlier for the UP Warriors, but she missed the last season due to injury. After the auction, the coaches of UP Warriors, Delhi Capitals, and RCB explained why they did not pick her.
UP Warriors’ Explanation
UP Warriors coach Abhishek Nair said the team could play only four overseas players in the final XI. That limit reduced their options. Many teams focused on all-rounders, so they could not include Healy in their plans.
Delhi Capitals’ Explanation
According to Delhi Capitals captain Jonathan Jetty, the team wanted Healy first, but could not select her because of the composition of the team.
RCB's Explanation
RCB coach Anya Shrubsole explained that the team already had a strong top order. They also had Georgia Voll as an off-spinner along with Richa Ghosh as a wicketkeeper-batter in the top five. Because of this combination, they did not target Healy.
Healy's Performance Record
Healy played 17 matches for UP Warriors in the WPL, scoring 428 runs at a strike rate of 130.49 and an average of 26.75. She had three half-centuries to her credit as well. She has also been in good touch during the recent Women's ODI World Cup. She hit successive centuries against India and Bangladesh. In five games, she scored 299 runs at a strike rate of 125.10 with an average of 74.75.
