IPL Teams Expected To Change Ownership Soon

Two Franchises Likely to Be Sold

Changes in franchise ownership could also be one of the possibilities in the next IPL season. The current season's champion, RCB, has already been put up for sale. Now reports say that Rajasthan Royals can also see an ownership change. A recent post by industrialist Harsh Goenka has sparked discussion on this topic.

Goenka wrote on his X account that two IPL teams are up for sale at the moment, one of them being RCB and the other one being some other franchise. He indicated that four to five buyers are looking to buy these teams. He further stated that the potential buyers could be from Pune, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, or even from the USA. His post went viral in no time. Currently, the Rajasthan Royals franchise is owned by Royals Sports Group, which has a stake of 65 percent in it.

RCB Ownership Sale Process Begins

The parent company of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Diageo, has formally started the process of selling the team. The company has told the Bombay Stock Exchange about its intent to seek new investors. It expects the sale process to be wrapped up by March 31 of next year.

Industrialist Adar Poonawalla was the first to hint at the possibility of RCB being sold in October this year. Along with Poonawalla, two other big firms are reportedly weighing the option to buy the team.
