The Indian women's cricket team won the ICC Women's ODI World Cup and became the world champion. After this victory, Team India will play Sri Lanka in a five-match T20 series.
While Team India was to play against Bangladesh in a three-match T20 series in December, it was postponed due to political tensions between the two countries. Now, the Indian team will be playing against Sri Lanka in five T20 matches. BCCI has announced a full schedule of the series.
While the first match will be played in Visakhapatnam on December 21, the last match will take place on December 30 in Thiruvananthapuram. This series will be a preparatory series for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. During the 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup, India bowed out, losing consecutive matches to New Zealand and Australia.
Next, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side won series against West Indies 2–1 and England 3–2. Ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026, India will also play against Australia in February 2026 and then England in May 2026. Team India hopes to fare well after their triumph in the recent ODI World Cup on home soil.
