Recent Batting Form
Suryakumar Yadav has been the mainstay of Team India. On many occasions, whenever he comes onto bat, life gets miserable for bowlers. He can only be described as a man who keeps scoring and never gets out; the boundaries keep flowing. But his recent performance graph has fallen. He scored only 222 runs in his last 19 T20 innings. His strike rate came down to 120 whereas his career strike rate reads 164.05.
Innings Details
During these 19 innings, Yadav played at the third position for 12 innings and at the fourth position for 7 innings. There were only two innings: 47 runs against Pakistan and 39 runs against Australia. Not a single half-century was scored by him. On the first T20 against South Africa in Cuttack, he managed just 12 runs.
Possible effect of batting order
Yadav normally bats at number three. Recently, his batting position has changed in some matches. Experts and fans think this might result in affecting his performance. Former Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa said that Yadav is a gifted match-winner. According to Uthappa, Yadav has to bat at no three continuously and should avoid changes in batting order.
Importance of Regaining Form
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026 is starting in February. Yadav's poor form has been an alarm for Team India. There will be no more than four or five T20 matches for India before the World Cup. They have five T20s against New Zealand after the South Africa series. As expected, Surya Kumar Yadav regains his rhythm to his previous form, the sooner the better.
