Team India Assistant Coach Confident In Gill And Suryakumar’s Comeback

Team India assistant coach Ryant Duscate is very confident about India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav and vice-captain Shubman Gill. “There’s no reason to be worried about them at present. Both will soon be back on track,” he added.

During the second match of T20I, which took place at Mullanpur on Thursday, Surya Kumar Yadav made 5 runs, but Gill made a duck on the first ball. Both of these low scores created pressure on the remaining lineup. Team India could not achieve South Africa’s target of 214 and reached only 162 and thus lost the match by 51 runs. The series is currently tied at 1-1.

Ryant Duscate said about Gill’s performance: “I have seen a good change in the attitude of Shubman Gill towards the end of our tour in Australia. I am not worried about his dismissals in these matches. We have advised Aga to play hard on the opening in the first T20 match. It was not an easy wicket for batting on. Even a good ball sometimes leads to a departure of a player who is out of form.”

Talking about Suryakumar Yadav, Ryant said, “We know the caliber of Shubman Gill. He has been getting 700-800 runs in the IPL. We believe in him. We believe in Suryakumar Yadav as well. The planning for the captaincy positions has been done, and we want to work on our main players. To be honest, it might appear serious from outside, but we trust them completely, and they will definitely make a comeback.”

Since the T20 World Cup 2024, Suryakumar Yadav has scored 431 runs in 26 innings with an average of 18.73 and a strike rate of 146.10, including two half-centuries. Shubman Gill has scored 263 runs in 14 innings with an average of 23.90 and a strike rate of 142.93 in 2025 without a half-century.
