The IPL mini auction is concluded in Abu Dhabi. Former India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin praised RCB for what they did at the auction.
RCB bought Vihaan Malhotra and Kaushik Chauhan for base price of Rs. 30 lakh each, both part of the Indian Under-19 team which is currently playing in the Asia Cup. RCB also bought Venkatesh Iyer for Rs. 7 crore.
"RCB has brought Vihaan Malhotra and Kaushik Chauhan for just Rs. 30 lakh. That's the smart thing. There will be less competition for them. Kaushik Chauhan can make a strong impact, said Ashwin on his YouTube channel. He added: "RCB got Venkatesh Iyer for Rs 7 crore when other teams like KKR had the money to bid. That just shows how RCB planned in front of the auction."
The base price in the mini auction for Venkatesh Iyer was Rs. 2 crore. Franchises like Lucknow Supergiants, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, and RCB had an interest in him. Eventually, RCB bought him for Rs. 7 crore.
So far, Iyer has scored 1,468 runs in 56 innings of IPL career. He recorded an average of 29.12 and a strike rate of 137. His record comprises one century and 12 half-centuries. Last year, he was bought by the Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs. 23.75 crore. However, that season, he scored only 142 runs, with one half-century at a strike rate of around 140.
